August 7, 2002	Thanks to Mr. Naden and Mike Geraghty we have been able to add an article that appeared in the Derby Evening Telegraph on May 1, 1951 about Mr. Bennett coming to Bemrose to serve as Headmaster. You can view the article in the Library. Again thanks to Mr. Naden and Mike an article from the July 19, 1949 issue of The Derby Evening Telegraph which describes the dedication of the World War II Memorial has been added to the World War II Memorial Page.

August 2, 2002	I have finally managed to make some long overdue corrections to photo descriptions thanks to Mr. Naden's eagle eye and enviable memory. Thank you 'Sir'. My apologies for taking so long to get this done.

August 1, 2002	Added a new page for the World War II Memorial, and included the programme from the unveiling of the Memorial. Thanks to Brian Coxon for the materials. James Innes has submitted a photograph and article to the Teachers page about Olive Phyllis Jones (1908–98). Thanks James. Added the 1964 Speech Day Programme to the Library. Kindly submitted by Brian Coxon. New pictures added to the Music and Drama page, and the All and Sundry page.

July 31, 2002	Photographs of what may have been the opening of the tennis courts by the Lady Mayor have been added to the All and Sundry page. Also added was a photograph of a highland fling, and an unknown event. A letter sent by Mr. Alfred Grundy in 1954 to Mr. Bennett, Headmaster of Bemrose School, reveals memories of the original Derby Municipal Secondary School in Abbey Street. July 29, 2002	Added a photograph of the invitation for the Jubilee Dinner in 1980, and a copy of the menu and programme to the Jubilee Celebration page. Also added to the OBGA page is a copy of the OBGA dinner menu from 1981. Photo of the prize winners from Speech Day, 1951 added to the Speech Days page. Several photographs added to the PE Page in both Track and Field, and Swimming. Added photographs from the Jubilee Celebrations in 1954. What is the Mayor holding up to his mouth in the lower right photograph?

July 26, 2002	More pictures added to the Speech Days page. Also added today were a photo of the Top of the Form team from Bemrose, and a photo of a swimming gala at Queens Street Baths. We have added a Reunion page and been able to record a reunion of some of the members from class 5A from 1963. Thanks to Cliff Billington for the report.

July 25, 2002	More from Brian Coxon's amazing collection of photographs including a classroom photo of a Russian lesson, three photos of drama productions added to the Music and Drama page, and a new page for Speech Days.

July 23, 2002	More magnificent photographs from Brian Coxon have arrived including 16 images for the PE Page, 7 for the All and Sundry page, and another photograph of a school play on the Music and Drama page.

July 22, 2002	Six new photographs of plays performed at Bemrose have been added to the Music and Drama page. Thanks to Brian Coxon for the submissions. Thanks to Ray Jones for a photograph of the first Bemrose rugby 1st XV. The photograph can be viewed on the PE Page. Thanks Ray. "Yes, it was me," admits Cliff 'Sparrow' Billington. More odd and mysterious photographs from Brian Coxon have been added to the All and Sundry page, including, of all things, a shotgun wedding at Bemrose.

July 16, 2002	Photographs of what was possibly the Hobbies Exhibition of 1952 have been generously submitted by Brian Coxon, and added to the Extramural Page. Brian has also provided photographs of the lecturn and possibly its creator, and the Major B. Smellie Memorial Chair in a mystery location apparently prior to its completion. Please take a look, and if you can identify the maker of the lecturn or help with the chair please let us know. The photos can be viewed by clicking the links above of by visiting the Memorabilia Page. Brian has also dug out a couple of class photos which have been added, and an interesting picture of a musical performance which is now on the All and Sundry page. Finally we have been able to post 29 new photographs of sporting events and add Swimming and Tennis sections to the PE Pictures page. Thanks again Brian. Thanks to Bill Grattidge we have been able to add a photograph and history of the Bemrose School Squadron of the Air Training Corps. July 15, 2002	More excellent photographs from Brian Coxon added today. Brian's Submissions for today include six shots of a play that was performed at Bemrose. Click here to view or visit the Music and Drama page. Brian also submitted other group shots; one of teachers enjoying a beverage at an unknown location, and three of students at events at Bemrose. See the All and Sundry page. A new section in the Library called Programmes now includes the Jubilee Thanksgiving Service Programme from 1954. Thanks to John Naden and Mike Geraghty for making this programme available. Please help in testing streaming video from the new Media Section located in the Library. Over the next few weeks all scenes from the film made at Bemrose in the 1950's may be included. These files are formatted to use Microsoft's Media Player. If you encounter any problems, experience unacceptably long download times, or have comments about the clip please use the link on the page to send an email with your feedback. The more feedback we receive the better, as work on converting the entire film will begin shortly. Please help us to get it right the first time. An article which appeared in The Derby Evening Telegraph on Friday, May 3, 1957 about the Bemrose School Choirs success at a music festival has been added to the Music and Drama page courtesy of John Naden and Mike Geraghty.

July 11, 2002	Added comments by Ralph Harrison to the Ike Watts section on the Teachers page. Thanks to John Naden and Mike Geraghty we have been able to add a scan of the inside cover of 'A French Course For To-Day' by Herbert F. Cook to the Library. Another submission from John Naden and Mike Geraghty has been posted today. Read a Derby Evening Telegraph article that appeared on July 11, 1957 called "Two 'Mr. Chips' with 70 years at Bemrose School". You can find the article in the Library.

July 10, 2002	Added a photograph of Form 5.14 or 5.19 to the Class Photos page. Thanks to Stuart Fourt for the photograph and names. Construction is being performed at the front of the school building and a photograph has been added to the site from the Announcements section on the Home Page. June 20, 2002	A nice shot of the 1st XI Cricket team possibly taken in the late forties or early fifties is now displayed on the PE Pictures page thanks to Brian Coxon. The picture includes a 'younger' Danny Rees.

June 19, 2002	Thanks to Andrew Russell for the enchanting photographs and comments of the Bemrose Summer Fete in 1964, located on the Extramural Memories page. Adrian Farnsworth has kindly submitted an image of the 1887 Ordinance Survey map which includes the site on which Bemrose was built. You can view the map and comments on the History page or by clicking here. A Forum discussion thread has also been started under Announcements and messages, titled Info on Bemrose Rykneld Street dig.

June 18, 2002	Thanks to Brian Coxon, we have been able to add a terrific photograph to the PE Page of the participants in one of the Sports Days held at Bemrose (date unknown). Added two photographs of unknown cricket teams to the Cricket section of the PE page. Thanks again Brian Coxon. Added a photograph of the Dummy on the clock tower to 'The Clock Tower Incident' page. June 6, 2002	Added a photograph of the Bemrose 6th Form scarf to the Uniform page. Added an article that appeared in The Derby Evening Telegraph on Friday, January 12, 1973 entitled "Bemrose Head On Reorganization". The article discussed the reorganization of Sector D, and the merger of Bemrose and Rykneld schools. Look in the Library to locate the piece. Many thanks to Denis Kelly for sending the article in. Added a crossword page that includes the crossword puzzle from the 1975 issue of Bemrosia. Please note any answers you disagree with, and send an email. In order to publish the puzzle I had to solve it first; I'm terrible at the things. The crossword from the 1976 issue will be added soon.

May 20, 2002	Added four new rugby photos to the PE Page. One of the photos is of the Staff versus 1st XV match in 1977, and includes Martin Bull who unfortunately passed away after being struck in the chest by a cricket ball a few years after this photo was taken. May 17, 2002	Added the second page of a two page article that appeared in the Derby Evening Telegraph in 1993. The story tracked the lives of the 1W class of 1973. The first page was held back because some of the text was missing from the scans. It will be posted as soon as possible. The article can be found in the Library.

May 16, 2002	Added Bemrosia 1975 to the Library page. Made several corrections to name listings. Added contributed notes to the History page. Thanks go to Brian Coxon for the submission.

May 15, 2002	Added the Farewell Booklet that was issued to the Fifth Form at the end of the school year in 1982, to the Library section. Added "Learning from the master" to the Library. May 13, 2002	The Bemrose Internet Library was added to the site today, and includes several articles from The Derby Evening Telegraph. May 9, 2002	Added links to "It Was Different In My Day" by Frank Grimshaw. Frank has generously allowed us to reproduce part of his book, “It Was Different In My Day”, in which Frank recounts life at Bemrose during World War II. May 8, 2002	Added a photo to the Field Trip page of a British Gas Field Trip, and our first photo from a school play to the Music and Drama page. The School Choir and Organ page was renamed Music and Drama. Finally received another submission for the Then and Now section. Thanks John.

May 7, 2002	Added 62 photographs of Youth Hostel trips taken by Bemrose students from 1968 through 1974, and split the Field Trip photos into separate galleries available from the main Field Trip page.
