My name is Peter Mansfield. I entered Bemrose in 1957 as a member of Newton House and 1B.

I attended Bemrose until July, 1963 when I left the Upper Tran. During my time there (of which I have wonderful memories) I played soccer, cricket, basketball and tennis for the school and ran the 400 yd. and the 4X100 yd. relay in the "County ".

However, soccer was my first love and during my years at Bemrose I captained the school u14, u15 teams and played in the 1st X1 when I was 15. While at Bemrose, I captained Derby Boys, Derbyshire Boys and played in the England Schools trials, making "The Rest".

In my last year at school, I played 3 times for the England youth team, winning three caps and several times for Derby County Reserves (as an amateur).

On leaving school, I joined Derby County as a professional. The Baseball Ground is "hallowed ground" to me!

I have lived in the USA for many years and run my own software company. I have just stumbled across the Bemrose.org site which is terrific. In fact there is my photograph on the site already- I am the boy wearing number 173 for Newton House, in the photograph of the school sports day. I can identify many of the others in that photograph.

The boy with glasses on back row is John Blake, son of the redoubtable Killer Blake.  The teachers on the rh end are Nunky Norville and Pongo Molineau. Nunky was Newton housemaster so its very likely to be the House team about 1953
