Beverley Baldwin (nee Brown) of the comprehensive era would like to come.

For me all ex-pupils are welcome. When all is said and done the fact that present day pupils do not get the high quality broadly based education (English, Mathematics, Science, Latin, and Greek credits in my case 1935) is certainly not their fault. If today's pupils think enough of the school to remain in contact as former pupils then a resurrected Old Bems Association is assured of a future.

Duncan Chambers has offered to help, and 28 members of the OBGA responded to my appeal at the May dinner to help with writing a history of the school. Due to family concerns I am not certain that the history project can be launched in September. (This is underway but no progress is likely until Nov 15).

I am optimistic at 82 (Stan is 3 weeks older than me) that we may be able to get the OBA refloated yet.

Proposed Reunion Dinner as suggested on the web-site

1. Friday November 15th has been pencilled for a reunion dinner (Min. Price £14) at the County Cricket Ground.

2. We need to know in the next 3 weeks who would like to come. If they e-mail me asap please, but not expect a reply until we make our decision on viability.

3. The OB Grammarian Association (OBGA) run by Geoff Horton has about 120 on the mailing list.

At the May dinner the members made it quite clear that they wished to continue with the present golf-dinner day irrespective of whether any additional function was arranged.

4. I don’t know to what extent there is dual membership of the OBGA and those registered on Bemrose.org.

But until we have responses from people who are not OBGA we do not propose to contact OBGA members.

5. Geoff Horton, Stan Tacey (3 weeks older than me!) and myself will meet as soon as there are sufficient replies for us to make a decision.



History of the School.

The position here is I am in discussion with Marilyn Thompson (Librarian) and Vic Green (Bursar) with a view to holding a meeting at the school towards the end of September. The school reopens on 3rd September.
